It's a sickening heartache And it's slowly tormenting my soul

Sunday is for rest. Good lord, I need some. I have no plans today. Just going to lounge about, and eventually make somre dinner.

Yesterday, we went down to the Silver Spring farmer's market to pick up our meat. I had made plans to meet [personal profile] coyotegestalt there. (I completely forgot to tell my lovely spouse about this part, so we got there and they were like "Buzwhuh?" It was a lovely time, getting way more food than we'd planned. It all looked so good, though. I got corn, and basil and shrimp and vegetable empanadas (SO GOOD) plus a variety of cheeses (ALSO SO GOOD). We walked around for a little over an hour an shopped, before we went back to the stall and picked up SO much meat. (22lbs of prime aged beef.)

Our haul ended up being about three lbs of short ribs, two small filets, a chuck roast, a shoulder roast, some sandwichh steaks, 6lbs of ground beef, and two enormous ribeye steaks. It ended up being about $11/lb, which isn't half bad. If they have any leftovers, I may be going back down to Silver Spring again soon to pick up more. We need to work on eating all of this first. lol

Then, we came back, stopping for a quick lunch and trusting the cooler to keep everything good to go. (It did an amazing job--those steaks hadn't thawed even a bit.

Once I got home, we dragged everything in and I played Jenga with the freezer to get 23lbs of meat into our fridge. It took a lot of work, but I was finally able to close the door and have it stay shut. We're going to be eating a lot of beef for the next few weeks. But honestly, since Jess is prepping for their top surgery, a little extra iron would hurt no one.

Then, we had game which was a lot of fun. We're playing an old module called the Dancing Hut of Baba Yaga. It's seriously fucked up, and I'm looking forward to them getting further into the game.

They dunked on a couple of the lower level monsters, but it gets harder as you go, so it could be fun.

Today, I shall rest up from all our travels in the last two days, and relax and eat cheese and crackers. Maybe I'll even fry up the other dumplings. I had an excellent chocolate croissant for breakfast.

And now I shall relax and maybe read somemore of the Vecna module we're starting on Friday. Everyone have a restful and lovely Sunday!

If this world is wearing thin, and you're thinking of escape, I'll go anywhere with you.

I'm a little bit sleepy this morning, so lets see if we can make this make sense.

Work yesterday was a little bit crazy. I'm assumming someone quit or went on FMLA at one of our sites, and there were about 20 patients that needed to be moved. Guess who got to do that? The site was begging us for help. and so my boss asked me if I'd be willing to do it. So, I did it. It involved calling people and then, if I didn't get them, sending them a message via mychart, with a carefully worded note asking them to reschedule. People were relatively nice, so it was all good.

Then, I was calling about another 15 patients back to get them in sooner/correct the mistakes they made scheduling on my chart, etc. IT meant that overall, I maybe took 25 calls during the day. The rest of the time was in callback mode. In theory that was fine. In practice, it felt a little like chaos.

Afterwards, we attempted to take the dog out for a walk, were denied, and then got all dappered up for our dinner at Ammoora.

We left as soon as my sister came home, and ended up getting there early. It was an easy drive down I-83 and across to light street. The restaurant is nestled into the Residences by Ritz Carlton, which look super swanky.

They seated us immediately, even though we were early and walked us through the hallway to the dining room. It was fucking gorgeous. Seriously, look it up on TikTok, and you'll see. It's just a beautiful restaurant.

Our waitress was adorable, and very sweet. We got a liter of sparkling water, and some non alcoholic drinks--being a Levantine restaurant that bridges the gap between Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, they had a lot of non alcoholic drinks. Which makes sense, since the food is halal, and some people who follow halal also abstain from alcohol.

We decided to go all out, and I didn't regret it until the end of my entree. We had the Za'atar Honey Burratta, which was amazing, with honey, pistachio and rose petals, and the Mousakan Chidcken rolls, which were excellent, and came with this sumac labneh dip that blew my mind. I was tempted just to lick the bowl of the sauce, y'all.

For dinner, Jess got Shish Tawouk, which is very spiced chicken kabobs--spicy, but oh so good. I got the Short Rib Freekeh, which is a buttery, melt in your mouth short rib (I didn't even need a knife for this, it was so tender) and a mushroom freekeh risotto. It definitely qualified as one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Against our best judgement, we got two deserts. I chose Rus Bil Karaz, which was coconut rice & milk pudding, confit sour cherries, coconut caramel tuile. It was really good, but the true star was Jess' choice, the Ashta Bil Asal, which was milk cream, honey, pistachio, Arabic cotton candy, rose petals. OMG, it was delicious and the perfect way to end the night.

My only complaint was that as it filled up, things got a little loud, and at points, we were both overstimulated.

Today, we're off to the farmers market to pick up our meat share, and then back home to play D&D!

Tomorrow, rest.

And on that note, I'm going to go put on pants and get myself together. Everyone have the very best Saturday!

Infrastructure.

About thirty one hours, all told, between water shut-off and hearing the pipes fill back up. Sputtering, struggling, deeply welcome. I made use of other buildings' bathrooms during the days and last night I managed a two-bucket scrub that did a decent job of getting my skin cleaned off. My hair, not so much, which is one of the bigger reasons I'm really looking forward to a shower tonight.

Last night, I realized I was getting ready to wash the dishes on reflex, and ended up feeling a little lost for a few minutes. Now they're all cleaned and the water I'd saved and didn't drink is still going to get drunk, but it's gone into the kettle so I don't have to draw more out of the taps - something that seems appropriate right now. Not getting "new" water, but using water I'd already gathered. Because in part, I know right now I can get more if I need it. But I've already gotten this, so I don't need to protect it. Just use it.

And he is the disobedience that holds us together, he is Nostro Dis Pater Nostr' Alma Mater

It's Friday! We've made it through the week! Whoohoo!

Yesterday, I had a bunch of packages coming. Some socks, nail polish and a cooler to pick up our meat share with. Of course, the first one, the nice, expensive cooler, was sent to the wrong address. I had a pretty good idea where they dropped it, so I went and got it. Mistake! My back was so utterly pissed last night. Still not thrilled today. Everything else came just fine. Today my tennis shoes should come.

Tonight, since we have no game and it's a Friday, we're going to go for a fancy dinner. I'm very excited. We're going to try out Ammoora, which is a Levantine restaurant--very fancy. I'm definitely getting all dressed up and looking nice. The hard part is deciding what I want to eat because everything looks amazing. It's a bit expensive, but I got the bonus for bringing on my coworker, so I'm putting a couple hundred of that towards it.

I've wanted to eat here since I found out about it, so it's very exciting to me. They have Valet parking, which is awesome, since it's downtown.

We've also got brunch scheduled there on 9/21 if Jess feels up to it post surgery. They only do brunch 1 Sunday/mo, so it's semi exclusive. If it's good, we're going to take [personal profile] poisontaster there in November.

Then, if the cow share people ever email me back, tomorrow morning, we'll run down to the Silver Spring Farmers Market and pick up our beef. See also, got a bigass cooler to hold it and keep it cold for the hour long drive home.

Then we shall have game, and it'll be awesome. I have to finish uploading maps for it, but I only have a handful left to go, so I can do that after I finish this entry. Then shower for tonight, and get ready for work.

Okay, time for me to go forth and do my thing. Everyone have an outstanding Friday!

The end of a monarchy, a state machine, unable to forsee, the widow queen

Good morning from sleepyville, populationg me. (And I'm betting, a lot of other people.) I really didn't want to heed my alarm this morning. But alas, I did. Two more days to the weekend. I shifted my Saturday schedule to my friend, since she wanted it, and I didn't. I decided that I needed my Saturday for sleep. Ha! Right. As if.

Not long after I handed off my Saturday, I got the message that our beef share was ready, so I paid the rest of it, and set up to pick it up at the Silver Spring Farmer's market on Saturday morning. Our game isn't til 3, so that gives me a few hours to pick it up and be back well before we need to be.

I ordered a medium sized cooler to transport the beef, which should come today. Then we can pack it with a bit of ice, and then put the steak and beef in for safe transport to home. Then, the hard part--fitting it all in the freezer. It's only about 22lbs, so fingers crossed, we'll be good.

Tomorrow night, since we don't have a game, and it's pay week, we will be going out to dinner. Jess has chosen Michael's Steak and Lobster House, so I'm excited about that. This is where I always get the enormous rib steak with a huge scoop of imperial crab on it.

Sunday, I'm thinking about doing some baking. I could kind of go for some cinnamon rolls. Or Sticky buns. But probably cinnamon rolls.

Since Yoda has decided that he will only go out with both Jess and I, it eats up some of my lunchtime, so I have been unable to bake then.

Last night's game of Brindlewood Bay was super fun. It's a game that posits "What if Murder, She Wrote met Cthulhu?" It's taken a little bit of time, but I've finally figured out my character. She's not the brains of the outfit. She's a little more physical. In an earlier session, we offhand mentioned that in an attempt to one off the groups nemesis, Dorie, she'd taken up kickboxing. I've decided that since later, someone pulled a gun on her, she's continued training. Self defense clases, martial arts. She's in her late 60s, early 70s, so one of the younger members of the group, and she was always in good shape, but this is much more. She was afraid of the gun, but then she throat punched him, using the good form she'd learned in kickboxing, and he'd dropped the gun, and she liked that feeling. She's older and a lot of things her body is doing are out of her control, but this, this she can control. She's become a bit of a daredevil, and much more outspoken to Dorie. Last night, we discovered that she's been watching locksmith videos, and sucessfully picked a lock during game. I really enjoy this version of her. And I think the lovely [personal profile] poisontaster will appreciate her ability to move the plot forward, since she's not afraid to do the stupid thing. (Mind you, all of my moves are aimed at minimizing harm for myself and my friends.)

I need to look up tailors in my area. I got a new dress, and I love it, but it's a maxi dress, and I'm short, so it needs a few inches off.

Okay, on that note, I'm going to go get myself together. Everyone have an amazing Thursday!

Never learned how to stay.

Starting tomorrow morning, my building won't have water for at least 48 hours. This isn't a surprise; I found out about it a couple weeks ago. They're replacing the water tank, which is one of the better reasons for that kind of disruption, and I'm fairly certain it's said to be at least 48 to keep people from getting impatient and disruptive around 2PM on Friday. I've been told Saturday morning at the latest, and I can live with that. Unpleasantly, but I can live with it. I'm filling up water bottles for drinking, a bucket for the toilet, and setting my biggest bowl in the sink for flatware. Figuring out where local bathrooms are and how to at least wipe myself down in my apartment a couple times.

In planning it out, the biggest things seem to be wiping myself down, keeping my hands clean, and brushing my teeth. The usual routines can't be followed and it's making me deeply aware of how I follow them, down to each small step. I'd recommend giving it a shot. Just to be that conscious of it all.

FIC: The Royal Sanctuary: The inscriptions (Tempestuous Tours)

On the walls of the sanctuary are inscribed the names of the Living Dead, which were taken from them at the time of their enslavement. These names were thankfully recorded by the priests who removed the names, so we still possess records of the thousands of men and women who were enslaved in this palace and usually died here shortly thereafter.

Not all of the names of the Living Dead are inscribed here. At the time of the rededication of this sanctuary, the Jackal met with the former Living Dead and their families to determine whether their names should be inscribed here, along with the names of the Living Dead from earlier generations. So strong a stigma continues in Koretia against being enslaved that the present generation of the former Living Dead - or their family members, where the former slaves could not speak for themselves - asked that their names not be inscribed here until after their bodies were dead. Their wishes were respected.

[Translator's note: The intersection between family and slavery can be seen in Light and Love.]

In the night, I am real. The moon to the left is a part of my thoughts and a part of me is me

It's Wednesday! We've got a game tonight, and I am looking forward to it. Hopefully, the coffee kicks in before then. lol. I slept hard, and have a little headache this morning, but I'm sure the Tylenol will take care of it. It's not bad, just a small one.

Yesterday was busy and a bit chaotic. I have a bunch of patients who need appointments, and I spent a lot of time calling them and jumping off and on the phone between making calls. I got a lot of people in for appointments and I'm very pleased with myself. When I see high-value openings, I get very excited. My competitive side rears up, and I jump on it and block it off, and report it to the higher ups, so they can look at the list of STAT appointments and use them. The other day, I found a golden egg in the form of a Pacemaker slot. It was very exciting.

I love storytelling, and I love the collaborative story telling of D&D. I was thinking about our game on Saturday, and how much I've come to love this campaign. This is Arvandor, the one I homebrewed for my high level characters. It was less combat and more court intrigue and weaving in backstories of characters. The module we played previously was Mad Mage, which was fun, but that I sometimes found frustrating. It was a standard dungeon crawl with lots of combat. And I love combat, but sometimes, it gets in the way of telling the stories I wanted to tell. I find that with modules now and then. But this is just my story, and the players reactions and stories they want to tell, and it's been glorious. They've made the story I started out with sing.

I was saying to [personal profile] poisontaster that I don't know if I'll ever have that Brennan Lee Mulligan moment. I may not have a "In the same way your heart feels and your mind thinks, you, mortal beings, are the instrument by which the universe cares. If you choose to care, then the universe cares. If you don't, then it doesn't," but I feel like with this campaign, I've come closest. The characters have had development, and we've explored backstories and it's been amazing. And the players have been outstanding. They've been brave and vulnerable and really put themselves out there with their role playing. It's been really good, and I've really enjoyed it.

I love all my games, and I've been able to do some of this with Frostmaiden, but that's a bigger group, and it's more difficult to work the backstories in, but we've managed.

After tonight, I don't have another game til Saturday, which is Baba Yaga. This is only the second session of it, so we'll see how it goes.

Next week, I'm starting a new module for the Curse of Strahd players. We're doing Vecna: Eve of Ruin. I need to finish reading the module before next Friday. I've been working on it. It's an official Wizards of the Coast module, and so far, it's a bit blah. Going to take some work to make it more interesting. Not sure how you take one of the big villains of the brand and make it kind of boring, but sometimes they manage.

We'll figure it out and make it fun. There's some expanded stuff that I'm going to look at that seems a little more my speed.

Okay, on that note, it's time for me to get my ass in gear. Everyone have an super Wednesday!

No verse.

2.3 miles in 30 minutes today. That plus getting up early left me fairly tired most of the day, but in a way I don't mind because it feels good. It helped me stop feeling upset, too - I keep thinking I don't need a career counselor or coach, especially not the ones I've met, because it always strikes me as unhelpful and impractical compared to doing the work of finding a job.

What I really don't like is feeling like I have to get upset and agitated to talk and voice my concerns, and if anyone has any suggestions, I'd welcome them.

I'll say something else good about the day, though, which was small but positive: turning off all the notification settings on my Brooklyn client's phone, and managing to get a fair number of double-bagged planes of glass out for recycling. Hopefully the next batch of planes will be out next week.

We dance once more, I feel your hands are cold, within your heart, a story to be told

It's Tuesday and I'm debating on the Farmer's Market as always. I really want some good Maryland Tomatoes, and I don't know how many more chances I'll have. With fall getting ready to come sneaking in, my mind is turning to Thanksgiving and where we want to get our turkey from. And what we want to do with it. And how big it should be. It's something to consider.

Jess' surgery is exactly 30 days away now. They have their preop this morning, and will get bloodwork then. They're young enough that all they need is bloodwork in order to get it. Then we shall prepare for the long wait. The world is on fire enough that it's causing serious stress. Jess is having a hard time, full of "but what if" catastrophizing. , and I wish that I could help. Hopefully, their Therapist can help with some stress-managing ideas. All I can do is give hugs and remind them that even if Ogberfell falls, Maryland ratified same sex marriage a full three years before the supreme court. And if it is outlawed, then Hopkins has had partner benefits for 26 years, so really we're okay. It'll be okay.

And maybe I'm channelling my innner Tobias (from Ghost) and his occasionally wildly optomistic view of the future, but I feel like we can still pull back from the precipice. And if we can't, I can always make plans to move to Portugal or Germany. It would suck, but if we need to, we can.

Yesterday was very busy at work. I was calling patients and filling in appointments most of the afternoon.

I'd also like it noted, I did not go full supervillain and punch someone through the internet. While I comb schedules for places to work people in, I frequently find fuck ups. Most are nothing major, and I just fix them, but some...

Our grid, which is basically the holy bible of scheduling, states that if a patient has anything but a cardiac stent, they have to go on the 1.5 T machine. There's a little yes/no question that specifically asks that. And yet, my dude answered no to everything. And then made a little note that he had a brain stent. And put it on a 3.0T machine. And then, I who had a sooner appt on the 3T call the pt to see if he wants it. And I start going through the questions. And find the bullshit note and am like "oh, noooo." It worked out fine, I found an opening on a 1.5, but for that one *best case* scenario is that he gets there and they can't scan. Worst case, he gets scanned and those stents heat up and do damage.

Then, there was another dude, whose dr told him he needed a 3T. And he has a Cochlear implant. Which is fine. It's one that can be done on a 3T. But, he also has a lumbar spinal fusion that goes into S1. And the picture is of his prostate. So I send back to clarify, and the radiologist agrees with me--he needs a 1.5. So, I call the doctor, and let him know what's up, he calls me back and long and short of it, I look super smart and good and conscientious about our patients.

I'm pretty sure Peg was on that email, too. I mean, I still fuck up, but not as often as some people.

Okay, time for me to go forth and get my ass in gear. Gotta figure out what I'm having for breakfast this morning. Everyone have an outstanding day!

Even now when you're here you are moving, hysterically seeking out what needs improving

And somehow, way too quickly, we're back to Monday. I did not want to answer the alarm's call. I did, because it's fucking annoying, but I wanted to go back to sleep for a few minutes.

I didn't really sleep great. I was excited after game and I had a hard time settling down, so I was a little late dozing off. We listened to Shmanners (which is a podcast--my favorite) and that didn't do it, so then I listened to Ghost--what I've termed my "emotional support Papa"

Speaking of Ghost, Jess sent me the best TikTok where the lead singer had the best quote about why his music is the way it is. "I want to try to let people who might be lost for hope tap into my sometimes, maybe, quite over-optimistic outlook on the future.” I think it hits on why I enjoy Ghost so much. Yes, the songs are about the darkness, but overall, it's about surviving the darkness and maybe even finding beauty in it. And they have one banger after another. They've really worked their way into my brain. I'm really grateful that last year Jess said "If Ghost tours again, would you go to a concert with me? And then they got excited when their Mocumentary/concert video Rite Here, Rite Now came out, so I downloaded it, watched it with them. That started it, but the concert definitely solidified it. There were people wandering around and trading bracelets and just such a sense of community, like I hadn't felt the likes of since Season One of Supernatural. It was nice.

Today is sure to be very busy, and then I actually have to cook this fucking chicken. I put it off one more night, but tonight's gotta be the night. I will probably cook the chicken separate from the stuffing, so I can get the chicken in first. Hopefully, I'll have that all done in time to eat at a reasonable time.

For now, I shall hop off and maybe grab a nice shower. Everyone have an outstanding Monday!

There is a scourge in the guise of sanctity, a perpetrator with a quill

It's Sunday! Today, we have some games, and in between, I'm going to make dinner. I'll probably do as much of it as I can this morning. If I need to slice and reheat the chicken tonight, that's fine. My sister kindly got dinner last night, so I didn't have to stand (still a bit sore) so I am not making the spinach lasagna today. I might prep it between games so we'll have it to just bake tomorrow. That would get some enormous containers of spinach out of my fridge.

Yesterday was mostly quiet aside from going out to lunch. We got some excellent Mexican food from a place in Towson called Mucho Gusto. Very tasty food, and a super sweet waitress. After that, we came and lazed, and eventually, I did some prep work for our first game. I need to go looking at my maps, and find some maps for the feywild, which is one of their options of places to go. Went to bed early and passed out pretty quickly. Of course, that meant that I woke up at 6:30am, which is not my first choice. I was hoping for 8. Oh well.

Today, we have Arvandor, which I DM and Prophecy of the Nine Omens which is all [personal profile] poisontaster .

I had taken yesterday off, so that I could go get our cow share, but apparently, it's still aging at the butcher. We went to this place last year, and they give you a nice big duffle bag of frozen, aged beef. It was so freaking good. You get an email, and you get to choose what you want in your bag. It's entirely worth the long ass drive to get to the farm for pickup. It's about an hour and a half drive.

Before then, I need to get a nice cooler, so that we transport our meat easily and safely.

We're t-minus 13 days from the fandom get together. It'll be 9 fanpeople at an all you can eat steak buffet for brunch. I'm looking forward to it.

It should be loud and raucous and I hope the restaurant is ready for us. lol

Okay, I'm going to hop off here and start working on my chicken. my herbed butter is not going to make itself. Everyone have a stellar Sunday!!

Bringing good ideas.

The baby shower had two games: one where you guessed how long various animal pregnancies lasted, and one where you guessed who was who in baby pictures. The second one was supposed to have been done by watching a slideshow, writing guesses down, and then learning who was who.

"Wouldn't it be more fun to shout it out?" I asked.

And the entire rest of the party agreed with me.

Overall, I had a decent time. I arrived early to help set up, which included deciding how to arrange the table for maximum flow throughout the apartment, considering whether the plates and cutlery should be on this side or that based on how people are going to be moving and where the drinks will be. Nobody got in anyone's way, even when the room was crowded, so I take that as a small victory. I had a handful of genuine conversations with people, and the watermelon tonic I brought was a success. There were a few unpleasant moments - someone talking about generative programs as a positive thing, one of the guests not flushing the toilet after they were done in the bathroom - but overall, even with those moments taken into consideration, I'm fairly glad I went.

There stand our gods before us, do you hear them saying, that the road that leads to nowhere is long

My god, I'm exhausted today. If I didn't ave a Saturday shift, I'd definitely still be in bed.

Yesterday's meeting went pretty well. I got up half an hour early and got myself together to go forth down to the city. I looked very business appropriate in a pencil skirt, a teal blouse and dress shoes. (Remember those dress shoes.)

I got down there fine, GPS is actually very good for downtown, and I left just before 7, so I was before a lot of traffic. Before I knew it, I was pulling up to the hospital. My plan was to valet, but in my invite package, they mentioned that the conference center was right by the one bridge from the parking garage, so I gave it a try. I found a pretty close spot, so I was like "okay, I can do this." And sure enough, the conference room was *right* there.

I had 60 min before my meeting officially started, so I figured I'd try to get my badge, and did hike one, which was about a mile all totaled. Nothing horrible, but yeah. Dress shoes.

I couldn't get my badge, because I needed a paper from HR, which I in no way had time for. So, I went back to the conference room and figured I'd try after we were done.

On my walk there, I heard my name, and found the director of Radiology addressing me. She recognized my picture from the article and paused to say hello and introduce herself.

They had a light breakfast--bagels and pastries. I had half a bagel, not wanting to be greedy. Then we had the meeting. It was good. Just your basic "welcome to Hopkins." It was interesting to find that we had scheduled over 300,000 exams just for the outpatient centers alone. A chunk of those the pt scheduled via mychart, but we did a good number. I do wonder how much money we bring in. It's gotta be fairly steep.

During the meeting, we were encouraged to participate, and the head of radiology singled out the story I had online, about the sweet patient. She was very complimentary and held it up as an example of something that was top of the line customer service, and would drive brand loyalty. So that was nice.

Afterwards, we got a tour of the hospital. It was about 2 1/2 miles of walking. In dress shoes.

I did it, but goddamn.

I did get a good view of the famous Hopkins Dome and took a picture.

Finally, our tour was almost over.

We stopped in our fifth building to get our box lunches, and swag and came back through the building where I needed to get my badge. Peg let me beg off the rest of the tour so I could get my badge at that point, and I did so. After 18 months, I finally have my Hopkins credentials! I don't technically need them, but I wanted them.

Then, I gimped back to the sky bridge, stopping at the gift shop in the Children's Center. On an end cap by the door, I glimpsed a pile of rainbows, and thought "surely they don't have gay pride stuff prominently displayed in the gift shop in the Children's center! Uh, dear reader, they had a FUCKTON of gay pride things displayed. I got a mug for Jess that says "Queer AF."

Then, I toddled off to my car. Right around ten minutes from home, the leg cramps started to hit.

That became a theme for the next three hours. My legs and feet were NOT happy.

I got home and unpacked all my swag, which included a nice tote bag, a cool automatic umbrella, some sunglasses, lip balm, lens cleaners and a nail file/mirror combo.

I took a little nap once the leg cramps eased up, and then ordered dinner. We had game after dinner, and that was a lot of fun.

Today work, then nothing scheduled. I'd like to go get my pills, but aside from that, just relaxing and recovering. My legs are just sore as hell today. But since I walked somewhere between 3-4 miles in totally non supportive flats, I'm not shocked.

Okay, time for me to get myself together for work. Everyone have an amazing Saturday!

Eighth of the Eighth.

Walking down the stairs to the subway platform, a group of what I assume are tourists are standing right at the bottom, talking and not moving. The train's pulling in and I don't have time to think: I tap my knuckles against the back of the one right in front of me like I'm knocking on a door.

Amazingly, it works perfectly.

What also worked perfectly was twice tonight, getting into the station and to the platform within a minute of the train pulling in, where I walked down or walked up and it's arriving just as I am. It's now something where I have to stop saying it never happens and go to saying it almost never happens. Because it's now happened at least once.

Every new generation hails a grand usurpation, devoid of treason

Meeting day! I am very nervous. And again, I'm kind of wondering what the endgame for this is. The purpose stated to me is to "get me face time with Peg". But I don't know to what end. I'm apparently just supposed to go and be me at her? Which is not comforting. I'm waiting for my Vyvanse to kick in, maybe that'll help settle me down, since right now I'm a bit nervous. I'm just not sure I'm very good at being a schmoozer. Work has set parameters that I need to follow, that makes sense to me. This is freeform. Ugh.

Oh well, all I can do is my best. None of my managers are going to be at this meeting, so I'm basically being tossed to the wolves. It's an orientation meeting, so at least I won't have to do full time schmoozing. The thing is, Patient Access Specialists like me do not get an orientation like this. We get an online orientation with all the other secretarial people. Thus, I'm assuming that I'm being thrown in with the doctors and nurses. I'm not sure how I stand out among that.

Again, I'll deal, but wow. It's only half a day, I can do this. I'm just going to blast Ghost all the way down, and I'll be good. At least I can finally get my employee badge.

Tomorrow, we don't have anything planned. A friend had invited us over to their apartment for fajitas, but I'm not sure I want to go out at all. We'll see.

Tonight, since I'm only working half a day, I'm going to either make a full roasting chicken with dressing and mashed potatoes and gravy or alternately, I'll make spinach lasagna.

Sunday, we have a shitton of games, so we'll be ordering dinner, or eating leftover lasagna.

Okay, time for me to go forth and start getting ready. Everyone have an stellar Friday!
